2004 Updates:

October 9th & 10th, 2004: Competed in final round of the Ohio/Indiana American Iron Championship at Putnam Park.  It was a busy weekend with a qualifying session on Saturday morning followed by a morning race then an afternoon race and the same again on Sunday.  The first race on Saturday resulted in a 6th place finish.  Unfortunately the second race resulted in a DQ after scaling found the car to have 4.3HP to much.  Forty-nine pounds of weight was added to the car for Sunday.  We were rewarded with a class win in the first race.  The second race started well from class pole, a ten second lead was established by the last lap but the car experienced a front lower control arm failure 3 turns from the end.  After limping through the last 3 turns we were beaten to the line by 7 tenths of a second.  Thanks go out to Gene and Kurt Borton for their help and support this year.  Also Gene and Kurt race an AIX Mustang, unfortunately they have had numerous set backs this year.  Putnam however saw a new body and newly rebuilt motor for the #88 and Gene silenced the critics with a first place finish in the very first race of the weekend.  Well done Gene and Kurt.

August 26th, 2004: Competed in round 6 of the Ohio/Indiana American Iron Championship at Mid Ohio on August 21st and 22nd.  The weekend was a little disappointing as the car was plagued with a bad stumble during hard turns and on the back straight which ultimately hurt lap times in a big way.  Oil problems (car was smoking really bad) caused me to be black flagged during Sunday's race while the marshals checked for leaks.  They found no major leaks and I was allowed back on track but had lost more than half a lap by that time.  Final classifications have me finishing 12th place in class on Saturday and 8th place in class on Sunday.

July 20th, 2004:  Completed competition school at Gingerman Raceway on July 17th and competed in first race on July 18th.  Not too bad for the first showing, from an overall starting position of 19th we came in 15th overall and 10th in class. That's 66 points in the drivers championship.

May 25th, 2004:  The race car made it's debut at Putnam Park on the 22nd and 23rd of May with the NASA Ohio/Indiana chapter.  A few shakedown problems were encountered, nothing major but there is a lot to learn.
